Convert miles into drive time before you plan the day
Straight-line distance understates real travel, and it understates it worst at short range where lights and street grids dominate. Three miles across a dense metro is about 11 minutes with load-out, which is over 3.7 minutes per mile, while 40 miles of highway runs closer to 1.3. So the nearest pin is not always the earliest arrival.
