Something on a listing to fix, or a listing to take down

This is a directory compiled from public license registers, so most messages are about a listing rather than about us. If the listing is your business, the removal route below is the fastest way through and it does not need an account or an explanation.

This is my business

You never asked to be listed here, and you do not have to justify wanting out. The form needs the listing, as a URL or just the business name, and an email to confirm to; the license number is optional and is the fastest way for us to find the exact row. Nobody signs in to that form, so a request is queued for a person rather than applied on submit. Removal records the reason, so a later import of the same register cannot put the row back.

No account, no sign-in, no reason required.

Anyone can send this

A listing is wrong

A dead phone number, the wrong city, a trade the business does not actually do, a license shown against the wrong company. Tell us which page and what is wrong, and we check it against the register the row came from before changing anything.

Press and everything else

Questions about where the data comes from, how the ordering works, which registers are next, or anything a journalist or a researcher wants to check. We will answer specifics about the method rather than talk in general terms.

What to put in the message

Every one of these exists so we can find the exact row without writing back to ask. A message with the license number in it usually needs no reply at all before the fix goes in.

  1. 1The business name as it appears on the listingRegister filings use the legal name, which is often not the name on the van. Copy what is on the page.
  2. 2The state license numberThe only key that is unambiguous. Two firms in one city can share a name; they cannot share a license number.
  3. 3The address of the page you are looking atThe same business can appear on a profile, a city page and a search result. The URL tells us which surfaces to update.
  4. 4What is wrong, and what it should sayFor a dead number, say so plainly. We do not call these businesses to check, so we act on the register and on what you tell us.
  5. 5Whether you want it corrected or taken downCorrection keeps the listing and fixes the field. Removal takes the business off the site and blocks it from returning on the next import.
Where the state register itself is wrong, the correction has to start with the issuing board. That record is what we read, so fixing it here and not there means the next import quietly puts the old value back.

The answer may already be on the help page

Where the data comes from, what a license classification covers, how the estimate is worked out, and why a business you know might be missing.
